How it all started… the Dream
It all started with a young man, a big family and a technological aspiration.
The year was 2001. A young computer savvy soldier posted his profile online, not expecting anything special, just a change. Then WHOA!! Next thing he knew, he had tied the knot. But the knot was a lot bigger than he expected. Not only did he marry a lovely women, he acquired nine more brothers and sisters, their spouses and families and a new religion…a religion centered on eternal families. It didn’t take long for this young man to realize that his new family was really close despite the geographic distance that existed for many of them. The wheel started turning. “We need a family website! A place where everybody can go and catch up on current family news….our own family (CNN & Headline News).” But there was one small problem. He couldn’t use just use any name or logo. It had to mean something.
A seed of inspiration... the Logo
Then one early morning on a camping trip, he stepped out of his tent. As he began to approach his way to the showers he looked up…in front of him was the answer to the question that he had been pondering for close to a year. In the distance, stood a tree in complete solitude. As the morning sunshine peered over the horizon it casted a glow around this one particular tree. It all came together. The tree symbolized Family and how we are all connected to each other. The leaves represent each individual, the branches symbolize the families, the trunk represents the eldest generation, and the roots symbolize our ancestors. Each structure stabilizes and supports one another. The branches hold the leaves, the trunk provides strength for the branches, and the roots supply nutrients to all these structures. There is no part that can survive without the other. So without the roots we wouldn't exist. Each and every structure plays an important role in the maintenance and growth of the tree. A phrase of endearment... the Name
The origination of FTAAE goes back some time to the year 1963, when an attractive young woman agreed to go on a date with a REAL ladies man. At the end of the date, this smooth operator leaned in for a kiss and said, “Let’s try our luck!” This young lady became furious and stormed out of the car not wanting anything to do with that “playboy.” Over time, she had a change of heart. A year and several letters later, her prince charming came home before his deployment to Korea and the two got engaged. During his year deployment they wrote one another regularly. Then this romantic soldier began signing his letters with ILYFTAAE. His love-sick fiancé figured out the ILY (I Love You), but she couldn’t figure out what FTAAE stood for. Upon inquiry, he told her, "For Time And All Eternity." From that day on, they both signed their letters with FTAAE. Together they had 10 children. And of those ten children, one of them crossed paths with this computer savvy soldier, and from there it blossomed. This son-in-law took the name FTAAE from a little phrase of endearment used between a couple in love, and turned it into a meaningful symbol of eternal family bonds.
